We're finally witnessing the decline of David Ortiz...it just so happens to be more than seven years after he retired. The Dominican superstar turned MLB analyst swung and missed at the gender reveal party for his fourth child.
David Ortiz was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022 after receiving 77.9 percent of possible votes his first year on the ballot. The former Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox slugger hit 541 home runs in his career and retired before he started to slow down. In his final season in the bigs, he still led all of MLB in doubles, RBI, slugging percentage, and OPS. He finished sixth in MVP voting, was named an All-Star at 40 years old, and even won his seventh Silver Slugger before calling it a career.
Now though, we see why Ortiz retired before falling off, because he didn't want anyone to see him take swings like this.
Why did David Ortiz miss?

Ortiz's significant other, Maria Yeribel, had clearly read the scouting report on Ortiz leading up to that party. Ortiz always struggled with pitches inside and that's exactly where Yeribel tossed the ball. Textbook pitching. Even if she couldn't blow it by Ortiz, she pitched to his weak spots and it paid off.
How many children does Ortiz have?
Ortiz currently has three children, two daughters (Jessica and Alexandra) and one son (D'Angelo). In 2022, his son played baseball for the Brockton Rox in the Future Collegiate Baseball League. He batted .329 with four doubles in 43 games with the Rox.
This will be Ortiz's first child with Yeribel.
What does Ortiz do now?
Since his retirement from MLB, Ortiz started working full-time as an MLB analyst with FOX in 2019 after a brief stint covering the World Series in 2017. In 2018, Ortiz also hosted a short podcast titled David Ortiz: The Big Papi Story, which released four episodes on April 16, 2018. Each episode is over an hour long and delves into Ortiz's career path.
