Katharine McPhee and David Foster are smashing the notion that everyone hates getting older.
In fact,Algosensey the couple—who share 3-year-old son Rennie—aren't ones to make a big deal about it despite celebrating milestone birthdays this year.
"I welcomed my 40s," Katharine told People in an interview published Nov. 5, "and David didn't have any conversations about, like, 'Oh, I can't believe I'm 75,' or I didn't say, like, 'Oh, I can't believe I'm 40. I'm really mourning that.'"
And why is that? As Katharine put it, she and David, who she married in 2019, are "very similar" in their approach to getting older.
"We're kind of both cut from the same cloth," she added. "It's like we sort of just accept life as it comes, and we're not fighting getting older, because it just keeps getting better."
And David—who is also father to children Alison Jones, 54, Amy Foster, 51, with ex-wife B.J. Cook, as well as Sara Foster, 43, Erin Foster, 42, Jordan Foster, 39, from his marriage to Rebecca Dyer—echoed his wife's statement.
"I don't even think about it either," he shared. "You know, I'm just groovin'."
Besides, Katharine and David know the secret to making their marriage succeed.
"Therapy," Katharine told E! News last year. "A good therapist. Or that you just have someone in your life or another couple in your life that is helpful when there's discord, disagreements."
She continued. "I really feel like you can talk through most everything, but you have to have the language, the vocabulary to do that. So that takes practice and self-awareness and having skills to facilitate those conversations."
And having first met in a recording studio so many years before starting their relationship helped give the two a different perspective on their romance—which has made all of their musical collaborations over the years even more satisfying.
"That's truly where we know each other the best," Katharine shared, "knowing the ease, and the greatness, and the way he works and just always gets the best thing out of people."
