From Erykah Badu's lips to Cupid's ears, anything is possible.
During a concert in Atlanta earlier this month, the R&B icon told the crowd about her crush on "The Woman King" actor John Boyega.
"If anybody ever sees John Boyega, tell (him) I said hi. And it's a lot of people in the audience − that's why I wanted to say that," said Badu in a video shared by Netflix's "Strong Black Lead" Instagram account. "'Cause there's enough of y'all for one of y'all to get the message to the man, right?"
Badu continued gushing about the "fine" 31-year-old actor onstage, asking concertgoers about Boyega's age. "How old is he? He's under 30? Hell yeah!" she said. "That's what I'm talking about."
Moments later, Badu's wish came true when Boyega walked onstage to surprise her. In the middle of singing her 1997 hit "Tyrone," which she rerecorded for Boyega's Netflix action comedy "They Cloned Tyrone," Badu was left momentarily speechless when she saw Boyega and later hugged him.
The show must go on, but Badu didn't let the concert stop her from chatting up Boyega.
"I'm at work. I've got to work, but I can multitask," said Badu, continuing to sing in between their conversation. "So, you from Atlanta?"
Badu wrapped up her meeting with Boyega by extending a special VIP invitation to the actor to hang out.
"I'm going back to the bus later on. After the show, of course. I've got to finish this," Badu said. "Then we're going to go back to the bus. Is that all right? They'll give you the key."
'They Cloned Tyrone':John Boyega, Teyonah Parris talk cloning, decode twist (Spoilers!)
Released earlier this month, "They Cloned Tyrone" stars Boyega alongside Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris as Fontaine, Slick Charles and Yo-Yo, respectively, who are tasked with saving the residents of their "trap" neighborhood, The Glen, from becoming clones in an underground governmental experiment to control Black people.
"It's Blaxploitation, a weird mystery movie and mixed with comedy," Boyega told USA TODAY of the film in an interview prior to the Screen Actors Guild strike.
